When treating compromised capsules, often concussive application or risk of infection is not an option. Add more modalities to your tool box for when diagnosis strikes.

This multi-product workshop begins with case studies and demonstrations followed by a choose-your-own-workstation to practice application.

What you will learn

It’s essential to learn how to rethink our approach when faced with damaged laminae, broken walls, bone bruising, capsule swelling, strained soft tissue, and synovial inflammation.

The customization and availability of metal is undeniably excellent.

Yet in many remedial cases, nailing can worsen injuries, increase pain, and slow healing by causing additional trauma to compromised feet. It can also create tracks for infection, especially when there’s laminae damage.

In these situations, glue-on shoes or composite materials can offer protection and support without adding mechanical stress — a crucial advantage when the hoof is already under strain.

Be prepared when diagnosis strikes.

This hands-on workshop starts with case studies and tips, followed by a chance to explore three modern material products yourself on an artificial or cadaver limb.

This session will cover:

  • Case studies
  • How to minimizing infection risk and which pathologies are at high-risk
  • Managing the compromised capsule when concussion isn’t possible
  • Hands-on demonstrations and guided practice
  • Material selection & application on cadaver and artificial limbs
  • How to pitch these higher price point products to your clients

Jeff Townsend-Berridge
CJF

Jeff Townsend-Berridge belongs to the genus farrierus incognitous. They are part craftsman, part outlaw, and 100% unreachable by text, voice message, WhatsApp, phone call, intense telepathic urging, and even carrier pigeon.

When not avoiding telegrams from clinic organisers for biography details, Jeff is said to commune with hooves on a spiritual level, diagnosing pathology by the smell of the frog alone.

Known in select circles as The Glue Guru, Jeff remains shrouded in mystery, dutifully upholding a lifelong vow of technological resistance like any farrierus incognitous should.

Legend has it he once replied to a text in 2013 but only because someone printed it out and taped it to his anvil. Responding only with a thumbs-up emoji — this species’ native tongue — the sender eventually perished of a common ailment, impatienceous frustrateis, while awaiting an actual answer.

If you want to learn more about Jeff’s origin story, come to this clinic to meet this mystical, magical Glue Guru in real life.
