Jay is a highly accomplished farrier with a career spanning nearly three decades. Since qualifying in 1996, he has competed nationally and internationally, representing his country both as an apprentice and a qualified farrier.

Jay was part of the farriery team at the London 2012 Olympics, alongside fellow speaker Ben Benson, and holds the FWCF—the highest farriery qualification—which he achieved in 2017.

A passionate educator and industry leader, he’s the founder of Farriery Tuition, along with being a WCF examiner and a member of the Executive Examiners Group (EEG).

He’s judged many major events, including the Home International and the International Shoeing Competition at Stoneleigh.

In 2020, his team successfully tutored a group of nine farriers from Sweden, Norway, and Denmark to achieve a 100% pass rate on their AWCF exams — none of whom had previously taken the DipWCF. He continues to successfully guide farrier groups internationally to pass exams.

Jay regularly travels as a clinician, speaker, and judge, sharing his expertise globally. He runs a busy farriery practice in Bedfordshire and has recently trained his son, who now represents England as an apprentice farrier.
